I spent my childhood in the Kurdish region of Turkey during 1990s. My village was emptied because of the regional wars at the time, and my family and I had to move to Western Turkey. For the purpose of reflecting the inequity that I had witnessed since my childhood, I decided to become a journalist. I wanted to tell the stories that I witnessed, together with my personal memories of migration and war; and that is how Cold Summer Project began. With this project; I am going back to my roots, by merging my journalist identity and personal reminiscences together.
